Sherry Nan was born in China and is now based in Baltimore, Maryland. Sherry earned a BFA in Painting from the Maryland Institute College of Art in 2024. Her work gravitates towards figurative expressionism with symbolism, characterized by monochromatic color schemes and an emphasis on distorted compositions. She focuses on integrating between her concept and physical materiality of the paint. These elements, combined with her exploration of figure and spatial dynamics, provoke introspection on power spatial conditions. In 2022 to 2024, Sherry showcased her art in several Baltimore exhibitions, including the Fall 2023 Juried Undergraduate Exhibition, 89 Degrees in Main Exhibition, Color Abstraction Exhibition, Ways of Seeing Exhibition and the Deep Cerebral Emergence Exhibition. Additionally, her earlier work was recognized with the Illinois State Visual Art Award in 2019.
